EclipseLit is a nonprofit literary magazine that focuses on sharing the work of writers and artists while benefiting a different organization through each issue. Our mission is to give an outlet for writers to heal through art while benefiting organizations dedicated to helping people with trauma.
We chose Sorrow as the theme for our magazine because we were trying to find a word that fit the emotion behind grief, the sudden loss of someone or something else.
We felt like Sorrow encompassed the aspect of emotions one faces. It is hollow and deep, and sometimes it feels like it can go on forever. We asked that contributors used this theme in their submissions.
We also wanted to show readers that in the dark, there is also light. We feel as though when someone goes through a hard time it is really easy to feel as though the light will never return. That you will be stuck in the dark forever. Sometimes, you don't want the light to return.
We wanted to show that you don't need to stand in the dark alone and that you are not alone in feelings of sadness.
Together, as a community, light can return.
