The curation of our collection at H&H Books is a daily act. Oftentimes, this curatorial process is idiosyncratic and organic, based on happy accidents of discovery, conversations with customers, and brilliant recommendations from sources ranging from authors to trusted media sources to friends. There are also times during which our inventory reflects a national--sometimes global--discourse around a particular topic or movement. Owing to the latter mindset, we chose the theme of "Uplift" for February's New Year's Resolution Book Club (NYRBC) in recognition of Black History Month and the ongoing work of creating space for the representation of marginalized voices both as a small publisher and as a nonprofit bookseller run largely by a team of white women. For each book purchased from this list of recs or as part of your own reading journey this year as a member of the NYRBC, H&H Books will purchase a replacement copy or a book we have not yet stocked in store from Harriett's Bookshop.
Please consider joining existing Black-led conversations throughout the year. Opportunities include:
