May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI). We curated a special display in the shop that celebrates AAPI authors, and in choosing 12 titles for this month's recs, we kept coming back to the theme of confluence. The word has obvious implications for AAPI month: the merging of cultures, the flow of people groups from one space to another, a gathering place. But these books embody so many other implications of the word. Take, for example, the connection between the past and present, the way memory and identity ripple between generations; or the creative outpouring when two like-minded souls finally meet. Confluence is slippery and unconstrained.
May these titles inspire your curiosity and empathy to flow outward in many directions!
NOTE: If a title is listed as "Pre-order" / "Sold Out" online, worry not, we can still place an order with our distributor and receive it in store for self-pickup or have it shipped directly to you.
